Black River Bull Mastiff's

Black River Bullmastiff Kennel

Black River is a small family run kennel situated at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains.  With the Black River passing through our 400+ acres we have ample room for our dogs to exercise and live active lives.

My husband and I have deep connections to the Humane Society, and are well aquainted with the unethical practices in breeding dogs (ie. degrading conditions where the life is bred out of the animal).  From the start of Black River Kennel we have commited ourselves to the betterment of the breeding practice insuring a humane and happy enviroment of each dog in our care.

We have designed our pens to be an acre or more in size, to give plenty of room to romp around and play.   All pens have ample shade and a kiddy pool, for bullies love a splash and play in the water.  Each dog has a buddy, another bully, which they get along with so they are never lonely; because all bullies are extremely social creatures.  Each bully has a master, David, Jamie or one of the kids.  The master is responsible for a half hour of individual training each day, and spending special time with their buddy.  Every dog is rotated into the house, where they are bathed and get to sleep with their master.  As the saying goes, dogs are like their master and we find that to be true.

David is master to Rhesa Abijah.  They are crazy guys; both of them possess a sense of humor and love to tease.  Rhesa loves to steal Jamie’s scrub brush or shoes while she is in the pen; he finds humor in getting her to chase him around the yard.

Jamie is master to Lady Sive Killarney, otherwise know as ‘Sivy Ivy Puddin n Pievy.”  Don’t let that name fool you; she is a tough momma and will put anyone in line that steps out.  She also loves to play, chase walnuts, swim, and wrestle with her peers. She is a very possessive girl and if any other bully attempts to show Jamie attention, she positions herself between Jamie and them. She is always full of slobbery kisses looking for any opportunity to sneak one in on you.

Our eldest son is master to Gideon.  Both are extremely laid back and mellow, with a side of stubbornness that only they themselves can equal.  Pull out a Scooby Snack and Gideon’s resolve melts away: unfortunately, Scooby Snacks are not effective with our son.

Ailish, the baby, is buddy to our second son.  The two of them are free spirits, and as they see it, the world revolves around them; I defy anyone to tell them differently.  If you baby talk to “Aili baby”, she will dance to the tune.  Her main goal in life is to slip into the house unnoticed and get herself cozy in bed.

Caoimhe is developing into a beautiful young lady, Amazon lady that is.  She is our largest female, and yet she is gentle as can be and good thing because her master is no Amazon.  Despite her superiority in size, Caoimhe takes commands and obeys them faithfully for her master.

Dolly

The last member of our family is Dolly; she is an old stray boxer who appeared one day.

She is a determined girl; as she fought for a place among the pack.  She is the protector of the “guardians”; free to roam, chasing down and fighting all wild beasts that live in our woods.  It is common to hear her tear off after the coyotes, insuring they maintain a substantial distance from the house and the pups.  She is faithful, she is loyal and she is a blessing.

This is our family, and we are committed to raising pups that are of a good temperament, so you can enjoy the benefits of a bully coming into your family.  There is no friend like the friend of a bully, who is always glad to be with you, always loving when no one else cares and they would never consider looking for a better home.

When you love a bully you have a friend until the end!
